Miami Music Week: The Adventure

You’ve probably noticed a lack of content coming from the ole’ Urban Marinade production shop. That’s partially because I’ve had more photos to process and post on dougvansant.com and various social media sites than ever before. (Roughly 2000 shots came home with me from Miami Music Week.) I’ve also been trying to figure out how best to present all the media Robert Fairbairn and I captured while down there. Do I include video in photo posts? Do I run things in chronological order or just post at will? Do I wait until all galleries are built, which could be next year?
Well, we’re going to do it like this… I’ll start by posting videos from each event we attended in chronological order. This will give me a way to tell the story of the week as it happened. I’ll follow the video presentations with photo galleries of each event because hopefully I will be mostly done producing the images by then. Cool? Cool!
So we start this review with a double-Jack and Coke. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Actually, the story goes like this. Rob and I flew out of DCA around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22nd. Our flight was damn near empty. Every person on board had a row to themselves. Actually, I think we all had 3 rows to ourselves. So Rob and I settled into our own row of seats, broke out the laptops and headphones and proceeded to order a beverage. The flight attendant liked us so much (or maybe she was digging that Nocturnal Vibe podcast she could hear from my headphones), she gave us two mini bottles of Jack to go with our Coke. What a way to start a week-long adventure of parties, DJ shows, concerts and festivals in Miami, all centered around dance music.
The flight was nice and easy and I had a slight buzz (didn’t eat much prior) once we landed. Our cab took us to the hotel in Miami Beach we would call home the rest of the week. We showered, changed and took off for Dream…
