Teka: A New Concept in DC House Music

We’ve got a lot of exciting things coming up for Urban Marinade, so we figured it would be a good time to post a little more. So why not tell you about Teka, a new concept in DC house music?

Actually, the concept isn’t so new anymore. A few months ago I got invited to a Friday night party at Lima Lounge called Teka. The first was with Saeed Younan, a DC house music powerhouse whom I am definitely a fan of. Unfortunately I was called upon to shoot a different party, but decided to drop by late in the evening to see how this “new” concept was fairing. The crowd was amp’d, Saeed was killing it and the whole vibe was just relaxed. I snapped a few shots and vowed this would be my new spot. I’ve only missed one party since due to a vacation in Mexico. And I’m now the house photographer for Lima on Friday nights. We’ve seen the likes of Sydney Blu, Oscar G, Paolo Mojo and Zenbi grace the decks. RnS is a regular. Supernova kicked one night. NYC duo Mind Control melted the turn tables and Beatport’s Kevin Green brought the house down one night. To say this party has become successful is an understatement.

So there ya go. Teka on Friday is - as I like to say - DC’s best Friday night party. If you love house, this is your mansion. Dance music touches your senses, Teka touches your soul!
